Lou’s Cafe,  located in three spots in the Bay Area, Parkside, Inner Richmond, and Financial District is a must try sandwich spot to experience and enjoy.

Besides the delicious sandwiches, they have a multitude of other menu items including their freshly made salads, soups, and espresso bar. Lou’s Cafe is a family owned cafe, which pays homage to their father’s name.

When you first enter the cafe, you feel the coziness and comfortability as the workers are very hospitable and welcoming. The attentive service and demeanor of each worker truly shows the love they have for their craft.

The first sandwich I chose to try was the Risky Business. It consisted of hot pastrami brisket, crab salad, bacon, avocado, pepper jack cheese, pepperoncini, and Lou’s Special Sauce layered between their perfectly toasted Dutch Crunch Roll.

The cross section of the sandwich with its array of colors was just mouthwatering. As I took my first bite of the savory sandwich, I was met with the instant hit towards my taste buds of their customized and additive homemade jalapeño spread which was a dream. The slight kick in spice from the spread added a nice character to the sandwich too. Being their most expensive sandwich on the menu at $10.10, it was worth every penny.

My second sandwich I chose was the Crab Melt, which had imitation snow crab salad, avocado, American cheese, and Lou’s Special Sauce on a Dutch Crunch Roll.

The Dutch Crunch Roll has to be my favorite bread they sell, as the bread was fresh and the crunch was just perfect. The ingredients complimented each other nicely and the amount of ingredients to bread was a balanced proportion. After taking one bite of the sandwitch it left me wanting more. The sensation of happiness flooded my mouth and the total of $9.85 was a worthy price of the enjoyment I felt afterwards.

Overall, the cafe is a great hole in the wall deli that needs to be visited if given the opportunity. It is one I would definitely recommend to visit if you are nearby and are in need for a quick grab and go. You ultimately can’t go wrong with any of the sandwich options on the menu.
