The new school year brings lots of change to the Riordan campus. One of the most notable among them is the newly renovated courtyard.
The courtyard’s renovation is a staggering one. One of the most obvious changes are the steps added around the inner perimeter of the space. These steps allow new spaces for students to sit, relax, talk, and eat.
“We got rid of some extra plant life we didn’t need, recemented it, and redid the stairs, that’s pretty much it,” stated Riordan’s Facilities Assistant, Jeff Ramirez.
Ramirez further remarked that the reason behind the renovation was to provide the students with, “upgrades man, we’re just trying to have more people come out there.”
Max Reese ‘24 exclaimed, “I like them, got some more space!”
Opening this space up ensures that students have more options during lunch, contributing to a better overall student experience.
Ramirez pointed out that it leads to a school-wide positive attitude, “School looks good then it acts good. If it looks bad, maybe people won’t act accordingly.”
The response to this renovation is overall positive. The Crusader published a poll asking the student body what their favorite improvement to the school was and the courtyard got the second most votes.
Ramirez concluded, “You know, when you make the outside look good, sometimes the inside feels good. Look good, feel good, play good.”
