Located on 360 Ritch St, San Francisco is a welcoming soul food bar named “Victory Hall”, food provided by the restaurant “Little Skillet”. Despite its homey look on the outside, the moment I stepped inside the establishment, I was greeted by a lively, loud, and fun atmosphere. The bar offers outdoor seating, where my family and I found ourselves while we ate our dinner.
The blue string lights brought a nice ambience to our table. They also provided heating which was perfect for the frigid San Francisco weather. The menu offered a plethora of enticing dishes and sides, it was hard to choose what to order.
After much consideration, I decided to order myself a soul food staple, two-piece fried chicken, as my main course. The chicken came out at the perfect temperature, steaming, and smelt absolutely amazing. When I picked up the drumstick, just feeling the skin of the chicken told me all I needed to know about how it would taste.
The first bite provoked a euphoric feeling on my taste buds, it was exceptionally juicy and chock-full of flavor. It was one of those bites that you still think about days after. For my side I ordered another staple, mashed potatoes.
The mashed potatoes also came out at a good temperature, although it didn’t have a very strong smell. Still very excited after trying the chicken, I tried the mashed potatoes as well, but after I took a bite of the potatoes, I was thoroughly disappointed.
