From the creators Emma Schwartz and Mary Robertson a true crime expose Quiet on Set was born. Former Nickelodeon actors, writers, and cinematographers – including Drake Bell, Josh Peck, Alexa Nikolas, Nancy Sullivan, Christy Stratton, Jenny Kilgen and more – share personal experiences on and off set, in their interactions with the creator of many classic Nickelodeon shows.
This four episode docu-series follows closely with the allegations of sexual harassment, verbal abuse, manipulation, and other unprofessional behavior in the workplace.
In a one on one interview shown in the series, former Nickelodeon child actor Drake Bell and his father, Joe Bell, discuss Drake’s story of abuse from his voice coach, Brian Beck, and the unfortunate reality of what went on while being on set that went unnoticed.
Aidan Alday ’26 said, “This documentary was truly heartbreaking to watch. There is such an unfortunate side to so many of my childhood favorite shows. To hear about the different stories and experiences from the cast and crew on the documentary was saddening.”
The documentary followed closely from the start of Dan Schneider’s career at Nickelodeon going all the way back to the 1990s with his first show All That. Following All That Dan Schneider created many more fan favorites such as the Amanda Bines show, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101 and more.
Throughout the series we hear heartbreaking experiences regarding life on set dealing with the uncomfortable situations that came with working under Schneider: insensitive jokes made to the cast and crew, comments on actors physical appearance, inappropriately touching child actors, and imbedding jokes with inappropriate connotations throughout the shows that were aimed to youth audiences.
Quiet on Set exposed the dark and disturbing side to so many classic Nickelodeon shows that many fans were not aware of, and it continues to gain popularity since its release in March.
Joeliyn Rizzo ’25 said, “The documentary showcased how sexual predators can go unnoticed for years before people speak out. It broke my heart to learn about all of the horrible things my favorite childhood actors went through.”
