Getting to school on time can be a challenge, especially for those who come from far away. But not to worry, Archbishop Riordan is developing a plan to help students who come from the Southern Peninsula get to school on time.

Starting in the next 90 days, students will be able to sign up for a carpool service that will help them get to school in a timely and efficient manner. There will be a fee for the service, which will become factored into the yearly school tuition fees.

The Riordan Carpool Service will pick up students and drop them off on the Peninsula, as far south as San Mateo.

According to Admissions Director Danny Curtin ’08, there is talk of using buses or vans from a company named Zoom or using an in house vendor to provide transportation. The vehicles will be marked with the company’s name and/or the Riordan crest, just like the one that is on the formal dress sweater.

The vehicles will be able to accommodate up to 12 people each. The drivers will be the same, most of the time, to avoid confusion.

Students who use the service will not have to worry about being late because of traffic, according to Admissions Enrollment Coordinator Matt Fochtman said, “Students will not be marked late!”

Students interested in using the service will be able to request a ride on a Google form sent through a nightly email. If a student needs to cancel a ride, they can email Curtin a day before to notify him.

For now, Riordan does not have a name for this service, but Curtin said, “We will take suggestions.”
