Riordan has a new dean.

Raquel Oliva Gómez, who was most recently a dean at Mercy High School, will be working alongside Juan Zumbado ’98 as the Dean of Students.

During her time at Mercy, she worked hard to make sure all the students were safe and supported. Now she is hoping to carry that into her transition as a dean at Riordan High School, where she can help and be a part of the Riordan community.

“I am blessed to continue working with many of our Mercy students, and I look forward to meeting and growing with the new and returning Riordan students, faculty, staff, and community members,” said Oliva Gómez.

Zumbado said, “I am very excited about working with Ms. OG. She and I have already had a number of positive interactions and working meetings.”

Grace Jacobs, a senior transfer from Mercy, stated, “Seeing a familiar face going into a new and improving environment is comforting. Since my first day of Mercy until my last, Ms. Oliva Gomez has always been a welcoming and familiar administrator.”

With Oliva Gomez working along with Zumbado, they create a strong team ready to support students, parents, and teachers. Oliva Gomez’s priorities are the students and their well being. Students who need someone to talk to can find her near the College Center. Those familiar with her say she’s a great listener.
