The boys varsity soccer team had a ball this season enjoying soccer in the sun with friends. Unfortunately, they did not have the season they hoped to have, but the team experienced a strong brotherhood and made a lot of memories.

Patrick Zamora ’23 said, “I first had aspirations to play soccer at the age of 3 because it was a family tradition that I wanted to continue.”

He continued on to say, “I scored my first goal on my youth team America Scores and at that moment I found my love of this sport.”

Zamora is currently in the recruiting process and is hoping to hear back from some colleges soon.

Ziion Best ’22 explained, “As a senior, this season was very memorable for me because it was my last season to play high school soccer. It still blows my mind how I may never play this sport again but I will never forget the memories I made with my Riordan brothers that I will keep for the rest of my life.”

He added, “My favorite memory was senior night. It was nice to have my whole family there with me, supporting me in my passion for soccer. Another reason why this is my favorite memory from the season is because every time I touched the field my family was the loudest.”

Even though the boys did not have a winning season they still kept their heads held high, pushed through and finished the season, and overall created lifetime relationships that will never be forgotten.

“I will always love the soccer program at Riordan for the experiences it’s given me,” said goalkeeper George Tsokas ’22.

“The season was not good if you’re going by score. But in all honesty we just started icy-hot. One game we would compete and keep the game close, and the next it looked like we were playing kickball. The second half of the season is when we picked up the effort andactually stayed consistent.” Overall, the soccer season may not have gone the way everyone would have liked, but this season was a stepping stone of what is to come for the future.
