Actor and Marvel star, Jeremy Renner, was critically injured in a snow plow accident just a couple days before his birthday, on Jan. 7.

On New Year’s Day, in Reno, Nevada, Renner was using a snowplow to clear the roads and help his nephew who was stuck in the snow. According to reports, after he got out of the snow plow, the vehicle started to move forward. Renner tried getting back into the snowplow to set the brakes and prevent it from hitting his nephew when he was pulled under the vehicle.

With highways shut down due to inclement weather, Renner was flown by helicopter to the hospital where he would undergo surgery the next day.

With over 30 broken bones, Jeremy Renner also suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. After two surgeries and in a current state of recovery, Renner announced he was released to go home on Jan. 17 where he continues recovery and physical therapy.

Marvel fanatic Kellie Wong ’25 said, “It was something terribly unexpected, but I’m glad to see he’s making a recovery and will be ok.”

Renner has kept fans updated through social media. On Jan. 3 Renner posted a picture of himself in the hospital captioned, “Thank you all for your kind words. I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”

Then on Jan. 21, Renner posted another picture stating how his year has changed and he thanked everyone for the love and support.

Wong added, “It’s nice to see his progress through instagram and the updates he’s posted, knowing how he’s doing rather than hearing it from a secondary source.”
