Propelled by their talent, the Riordan Band is going on a trip to London from Dec. 28, to Jan. 4, 2019 to perform in the New Year’s Day parade.

In preparation for this trip to London, this winter the band was supposed to play in multiple band reviews to not only show their skill, but also to practice for this upcoming trip. Due to the air quality from the Paradise Fire, many of these reviews were canceled. In the Fiesta Del Mar Band Review, the band came in second place in the parade category.

“I was very disappointed when they cancelled the band reviews because we were excited to share our skill and practice for the London trip,” said Pablo Santos ’21.

On Nov. 28, the band shared a concert with the College of San Mateo Symphonic Band.

The band also played at the re-opening of Lefty O’Doul’s Ballpark Buffet and Cafe for the restaurant’s re-opening, and met the mayor of San Francisco, London Breed. The band was invited to travel to London in August of last year when they were given a scroll with the invitation by the director of the New Year’s day parade. While in London, the band will be participating in the parade, displaying their talents for near 500,000 parade goers.
