Take a break from stress of social media

The Crusader Staff

A considerable number of us depend on social media. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Tik Tok can be extremely time consuming, and parents are concerned about us and the state of our mental health.

Despite this, there are many positive benefits of social media, from sharing ideas, to better communication, and some may even consider it as a job.

However, there are negative aspects to social media that many choose to ignore.

Social media is a great place to share ideas and connect with other people. We can get useful information and meet exciting people. Many even find their significant other on the internet. There are also employment opportunities all throughout certain platforms.

But, social media can disappear any time, and we must not become dependent on it.

Social media can be draining at times and that is the truth. Many teenagers may have insecurities, have body dysmorphia, depression and anxiety that can be exacerbated by social media.

Studies have shown that social media has a negative effect on the youth due to these reasons and more. At times, some of us feel insecure or not good enough, but we should be grateful that we were created in God’s image. It can be hard at times, but self love is so important these days. We need to remember that we are beautiful and loved!

Everyone has the right to his or her opinion, but what matters is the way we handle situations and how we put these situations into perspective. It is essential to take breaks from social media. Focus on mental health when feeling stressed and overwhelmed by social media or life in general.
