Wheel in the Sky

The Golden Gate Park 150th anniversary celebration was delayed for the past couple months because of COVID-19.

The 150 foot SkyStar Wheel, the centerpiece of the celebration, wasn’t finished until Oct. 9 and was finally opened to visitors on Oct. 29, but because San Francisco is now in the purple tier for COVID-19, the Ferris Wheel is closed again.

Located next to the De Young Museum, Academy of Science, and the Music Conservatory, the ride during COVID-19 is by reservation only. General admissions costs $18, and for seniors (65 and older) and children (under 12) will cost $12. Each ride will last about 12 minutes, with views of San Francisco.
