From Nov. 5-11, 17 Riordan students traveled to Washington D.C, to attend CloseUp. Crusaders have participated in the program since 1970. This year, the program was held during 2022 midterm elections, making the experience even more special. Students visited many monuments in D.C., including the Supreme Court, U.S. Capitol, and the White House. As it was an educational trip, CloseUp instructors tailored a curriculum towards learning about our nation’s institutions, history, and their efficacy. Overall, Closeup gave students the opportunity to expand their view on politics and government, formulate strong opinions, as well as meet with other students from across the country while exploring the nation’s capital.
